Thank you - that's all I knew

1990

Sheffield's Yemeni Literacy Campaign was launched in 1988 when it was discovered that 95% of Sheffield's Yemeni community were illiterate and as a consequence many were unemployed.  This was a unique scheme that trained  young bi-lingual Yemeni's to become literacy assistants and teach English to older people in their community.  The film provides an interesting and rare profile of a significant minority group in a large industrial city.
